Paleo & CrossFit

People ask a lot of questions when we tell them we eat Paleo:

-What is it?

-Why would you do that?

And my personal favorite...
-Wait, like you eat dinosaurs?

Paleo, simply put, is eating the most natural way our bodies were made to eat. Lean meats, veggies and fruit, natural oils and nuts. Nothing processed. Nothing with grains. Nothing that comes in a freezer box that you pull back the plastic cover, microwave on high for 3-5 minutes, let stand for 1 minute, and eat.

We've been a Paleo family since May 2011, and it's been an amazing change for our lives. Not only have we both lost weight (as of August 2011, I'm down 20lbs and he's down almost 30lbs), but a lot of our digestive issues have gone away and we feel healthier in general.

We pair our Paleo diet with CrossFit, which is best described as the hardest 20 minutes of you day. CrossFit is metabolic training that pushes your body to build strength and muscle through conditioning. It's used by the military, by police academies, and by our family. Every day there's a new skill set to teach you how to properly lift or complete an exercise, then a WOD (workout of the day) that usually takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.

But you say "Only 30 minutes of exercise? That's not enough to do any good!"
You'd be surprised. I've never had a harder workout, done more good for my body, and seen more of a change in my body than when I'm doing CrossFit. I love it, and I love nothing more than feeling like I'm going to throw up during a workout, or watching my calluses peel off after one! Twisted right? Come find me in 6 months when I'm stronger and skinnier than I've ever been... ;)
